Deeeelicious! A Veritable Shmorgisboard!

This weekend was the first time that Alexandria actually got the hang of eating. She got into it! By a few bites in to her gourmet mixed fruit and chicken w/veggies she was grabbing the spoon and shoving it into her mouth. Like any well trained baby, she made an absolute mess for mommy to clean up and was loving every second!
The food was the bright spot in an otherwise painful weekend for the little one. She has begun to teethe and is not, whatsoever, happy. Mostly tears and piercing screams...but with the occasional moments of happiness when she has a wet wash cloth shoved in her mouth. We are not too sure when the tooth will makes its debut- but we will keep you all posted!

My many faces....

Alexandria may fool some with all of these looks of pain and upset, but truly she is mostly just happy. As you can see in picture #2 she wants to take control of the camera, and in #3 the face she makes when she doesn't get it. It can be difficult to get her to smile in any new environment, or when something shiny is in front of her face. Lex is quite the little observer and likes to take it all in!! In a new room she is so fascinated by the lights and sounds it as if no one else exists. Silly little girl!

This week Mom and Lex went to check out a new preschool, Imagination Station. They liked it quite a bit, but are still waiting for approval from Dad! All of the rooms were bright, big, and colorful with plenty of stimulating toys and a schedule for the babies to work on new skills and sign language. They would have never thought to check for this before, but the rooms are also all monitored by video cameras. Since the recent dramas at her current daycare, Mom found this refreshing!
After a week that seemed to fly by....everyone is well. Alexandria is relaxing and enjoying being healthy! She has been practicing sitting but is still pretty shaking. No problem, she'll have it mastered in no time!

Back to the doctor...yes again!

The weekend proved to be a success. Big sister Aubrey had a wonderful time at her birthday party on Saturday and Alexandria was perfectly content to be passed from one smiling face onto the next! She enjoyed being outside at the park with plenty of people and cool new things to look at (like the giant hissing duck in the pond!).

By the end of the day everyone was worn out, especially Lex! Sunday everyone tried to relax and take it easy as best they could. Lex seemed to still be a little sniffly and was throwing up every so often, but she smiled non-stop.....always smiling.

Well Monday had to come eventually. First thing in the morning daycare called and suggested that she might have Rotovirus because she kept throwing up over and over. Lex's doctor confirmed this was not the case because she was vaccinated against it, but Dad brought her in to the doctor for a quick check. Good news is she is okay. She hasn't gained any weight in the past month due to her being sick, but she has been surviving off her cheeks and thighs weighing in still at 17 lbs 6oz and is 27 1/2 inches long!! Mom and Dad think she'll be just fine, no need to worry that she is sickly looking! For now she needs to adjust to solid food and filter all of that medication out of her system.

Just last night Mom and Dad tried to give her applesauce and she thought it would be fun to make an applesauce fountain. She spit and slobbered every bite, launching pieces onto Mom, Dad, and all over her hair and face. It was fantastic! :)

We will post some birthday party pictures soon!

Like it or Leave it

Although Lex is still a wee one she has already developed some very distinct likes and dislikes. Mom tries not to document the more painful moments of life, while Dad finds each emotion an exquisite memory.

So far it is apparent, that along with most babies, sleep is a favorite. Lex likes to sleep with her eyes part open sometimes. This is sort of freaky....but Mom and Dad find it endearing. She also likes to BOUNCE!! Bounce-bounce-bounce! She squeals with delight and practically goes through the roof once she has gotten just a little bit excited. She likes to laugh at her big sister. They play a game of laughing back and forth at each other. They feed off each other's laughter. She likes, well loves, her family. She smiles from ear to ear with the sight of a familiar face. She only wishes she could some of her family more often!!

She likes sucking on lemons, playing with and/or sucking on her toes, swing rides with Dad, peek-a-boo games, peach baby food, the sound of laughter, watching things over head, looking backwards and upside down, carpet swimming on her belly, playing in her tea-party saucer, and cuddling up to an avaialble shoulder.

The one thing that seems to stick out for a dislike is getting an arm stuck while rolling over. Its that thing that really gets to her!!Grrrrrr!!

Feeling Better- We Hope!

Miss Lex was not feeling too hot when she had RSV from Feb 16th-20th, but she seemed to be getting better and was just about 100%! Last weekend we went to celebrate Mima's birthday, hang out with the cousins and Aunt Heidi, and visit with Grandpa at lunch on Sunday. Lex had quite the time sucking, with a sour face, on countless lemons- and standing, chubby thighed, on the table (with assistance mind you).

This weekend we will all be celebrating big sister Aubrey's 9th birthday!! We're headed out to the park for Pizza, cake, Pinata, and hopefully a lot of fun. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the sniffles Lex was having this morning are quick to pass....and not a relapse! Ah! Needless to say she is back on the breathing treatments. We decided it was probably best for now.
